As a child, she left her Japanese homeland and came to Austria – and thus to a new world. Trained in Vienna, Mitsuko Uchida developed into a world-class pianist. Her enthusiasm for Viennese music accompanies her to this day.
How deep can you dive into some oceans? “Infinite,” says Mitsuko Uchida, referring above all to the sonatas of Franz Schubert and Ludwig van Beethoven. “However, they are completely different worlds of sound.” Despite her rich stage experience, Uchida encounters the great works of the piano literature as sensitively as on the first day. “I may be more courageous today, but in a different sense than I was in my early years.” With her ›Viennese Blood‹ she certainly gets to the bottom of the secrets of this music …
